My friend Ernesto has closed his fish taco stand in Lerdo (I'm sad.) and moved across the river to Torreón where he has a larger operation and a much larger clientele base.

He's open from 9 to 9 every day.

His stand opens onto a busy street in the front and to a parking lot in the back.

Seating is not allowed on the sidewalk in front, but it's OK in back

On hot days, ice cream is a big seller.

That's me in the sheltered eating area in the back.

He serves three hamburger sizes, small (like a Whopper), medium which he is cooking here, and large which is really huge.

Two kinds of cheese are melting on the meat while slices of ham toast in the front of the grill.  Between them are bacon and pineapple.

With the addition of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños and pickles, it was outstanding and more than I could eat.  Nery helped by eating half of mine.

I saved room for ice cream  They have many flavors as listed on the sign hanging inside the stand.

I had a scope of pineapple and a scope of coffee.

Ernesto's mother is the ice cream lady.  She also takes and serves the hamburger orders while Ernesto does the cooking.

Ernesto has been open in this place for a few weeks and has established a brisk business.  Now he is ready to add to the menu.  Next week he will add carne asado, fish tacos and gorditas.

Sad postscript:  His business was very good all summer until drug gangs vs police action in the neighborhood frightened people away.  Pedestrian traffic that was brisk is now almost gone.  Ernesto is preparing to move his business to Gómez Palacio.
