México has two consumer protection agencies. Both have reputations of getting results. |

PROFECO: Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor has offices all over the country. They are very adept at resolving disputes between consumers and business -- such as a home owner with a grievance against a contractor. They do not mediate disputes between private parties. They would not help with a landlord problem if the landlord is a private person. They would be available if the landlord is a business. Here is an online from to file a complaint. Fill out the form and send it by clicking on the picture box on the right at the bottom of the form. The picture box on the left will clear the form. The pictures don't appear, but the boxes work. They do not deal with banks or other financial businesses. CONDUSEF: Comisión Nacional para la Protección y Defensa de los Usuarios de Servicios Financieros National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services. This agency will work to resolve disputes with banks, stock brokers, insurance companies and other financial businesses They have offices in many cities. |
